PAST & FUTURE EVENTS
Yoga Sutra Study
Coming this Fall
to
Balanced Hot Yoga Eugene
Cost: $65 before October 15, $75 after
Yoga Darshana, a vision of the world through the eyes of a yogi, comes to us largely from a text known as The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali.
It's a collection of sutras (literally “threads”), or pithy aphorisms designed to be chanted and memorized and is one of the first comprehensive “how to” yoga manuals. Come dive deeply into this text and into your own personal understanding of philosophy behind the modern and popular practice of yoga.
Head above Heart: Yoga of Inversions
May 22, 2016
1:00pm-3:00pm
Balanced Hot Yoga Eugene
Cost: $25 before May 15, $30 after
Inverted postures of yoga are some of the most beneficial yet intimidating of yoga poses. This workshop will change your perception and help you to practice placing the heart above the head. Whether you're new to yoga or whether you would like to view your practice with new eyes, you will learn how to cultivate a safe inversion practice.
Libby will review the theories behind the high regard yogis place on inversions, and we’ll work on classic inversions like headstand, handstand and forearm stand.
Appropriate for all levels: beginner-friendly, yet great for continuing practitioners.
$25 early registration, $30 after May 15

Introduction to Yogic Anatomy: Chakras
January 31, 2016
1:00pm-3:30pm
Cost: $30
Learn some theories and history of this classic yogic map of human embodiment, and turn your knowledge into a healing yoga practice. Chakras, or “energy wheels,” are an ancient model of the spine and central nervous system—a guiding light through our personal stories, experiences and emotional well being. Class will begin with conversation about the chakras, and continue with a chakra-informed yoga practice you can bring home.
Introduction to Yoga Philosophy through the Bhagavad Gita
Sundays, February 21 - March 13, 2016
2:00-3:30pm
The Bhagavad Gita, according to Dr. Douglas Brooks, is the text / door through which all major yoga philosophy systems must pass. The "Gita" is a narrative that provides a rich contemplation of how yoga can help us to live well in the world. This special 6-week series will describe the history, story and concepts within the Gita. No prior experience with the Gita necessary, but you can read any translation before attending, if you wish. We will create a conversation, contemplation and journaling about ways to incorporate these teachings into daily life.
